I am currently in my second year at the Bartlett, UCL, studying design and architecture. This creation originated from a sketch of an avocado.
Starting with simple but precise line drawings of the fruit I was inspired to extract elements of it and create patterns by arranging the lines in various forms. By minimising some details, enlarging others, and deconstructing the shapes I changed the three dimensional object into a two dimensional pattern. I then enhanced the freehand drawings by digitising them in photoshop.and adding an array of colour, starting with soft pastel shades gradually leading on to a series of bolder colours. The original minimalist avocado line drawing has progressed to a colourful abstract piece in which elements of nature and a fantasy world can be interpreted by the viewer.
